Biography
Gazardiel Elwood was thought to be a gifted child. Whether he actually was or not is still up for debate. He was given an opportunity to study in Sharlayan at the prestigious Studium; an opportunity countless work tirelessly for. After leaving his family and traveling to the learned nation, his instructors quickly discovered that he had little desire to study or pay attention. Gaz was more interested in making friends, playing pranks, and wandering into places most people wouldn't go. After a time Gaz left Sharlayan, his studies incomplete. Some say his conduct got him kicked out. Others say he just wandered off one day and never came back. Not much is known about what happened to him after that. He traveled the world having adventures, never seeming to settle down anywhere in particular. Years passed and he wasn't seen until after the events of the Final Days when a group of refugees came across a peculiar forest in Mor Dhona. Within the forest was a tall tower that Gazardiel had been occupying for some time, a different man than he once was. His mind had been fractured, his memories hazy. Regardless, Gaz was never one to turn away someone in need. He gave shelter to the refugees which eventually led to more coming to stay under the protection of his forest. Eventually the village of Havenwood was born, and Gaz continued to shelter all those who had nowhere else to go.Gaz had been doing something important in the forest, but he doesn't quite remember what it was. So for now he focuses on his role as Keeper of Havenwood, ensuring the village stays a safe, cozy place for all those that live there. But mysteries abound in the surrounding forests. Perhaps his new neighbors will be able to help him piece together the true origins of the forest and his responsibility within it.
Personality
Gaz has nothing if not personality. He is a man of many faces and even more emotions. While he is passionate about magic and solving mysteries, his true desire is to love and be loved in return. People have always been important to him. Despite the number of people that find him infuriating for being too silly or weird, he loves everyone and wishes for everyone to be part of a grand story. He loves to be comfortable and enjoys good food and sweet treats. While his overall appearance can be slightly unkempt, he is very particular about his hair. He can be covered in mud and moss, but his hair must always be just how he likes it. It is a daily routine to get his hair be so thick and filled with luster, and it is a routine he never misses. Most of the time no one need know about his obsession with his own locks, but should something go awry everyone will hear about it.
Love & Romance
Gaz is a hopeless romantic. He dreams of one day marrying two or three wives who will bear him lots of children and fill the village with his family. He can be overly eager when it comes to girls, which can get him into trouble. However, the more he grows the more he finds balance within himself and learns to focus his excitement into ensuring thrilling, fulfilling romance. He is rarely boring, and is always looking for more ways to shock and amaze. While far from perfect, he is an engaged and attentive lover. While there isn't a particular type of woman that he's looking for, there are some traits that he is drawn to. Perhaps above all else, he is attracted to women who are kind and gentle. Not just kind to him, but to everyone they come across. He is drawn to femininity in many forms, including feminine fashion, hairstyles, demeanor, coloration, and so on. While perhaps the least important aspect of his attractions, he has a fondness for girls who are petite. Overall, he looks for in a woman traits that would make her a desirable wife and mother one day.🌷OOC Note🌷I am a big fan of romantic roleplay and all its aspects, so that's why I am looking to do it a couple times over! I am heavily invested into Gaz as a character and the community he's part of, so I don't wish to play any other characters. I am also very wary of players getting overly attached to me OOCly. So for these reasons I decided to make Gaz polyamorous. This doesn't mean that I just have him date anyone and everyone, however. I'm looking for solid, communicative, and fun partners to join in on the romantic journey, and I'm in no hurry to find them right away. I am entirely over jealous, possessive behavior from people over the internet. I just want to write fun stories and play my character to the fullest. While my character may flirt and date around a bit to find potential relationships, our characters will not be in a relationship unless we have communicated about it OOC and IC. Any potential romances must also get along with my current partner(s) both OOC and IC. Communication and honesty is paramount with this set up, and no one will be in the dark about what's going on. It is a collaboration between all of us or it's nothing. No one gets left behind, and no one gets to cause distress within the Elwood household. This is all just roleplay, it's mean to be fun and exciting.
Relationships
Aria Ilyndra
Aria stumbled upon Gaz in the Twelveswood one day. The two went hunting for some elusive purple efts where they quickly became friends. While Aria eventually admitted she made up the story of the purple efts, they turned the experience into a metaphor of their journeys to learn how to love themselves and discovering who they really were. Since the beginning they shared an emotional connection. The two grew closer, despite some difficulties, and eventually fell in love. Now they live together in Elwood Tower, building a life together in Havenwood and supporting each other's dreams. Aria is a foundational part of Gaz's future.
Elwood Tower
Within the mysterious Silvermist Forest lies Elwood Tower. Gazardiel's tower has long since been a central figure in the development of the forest and later on the village of Havenwood. It hosts its own aethernet system to travel between its 100 different floors, however many of the floors are inaccessible to anyone that doesn't know how to navigate the tower. There are a few safe, accessible floors that Gaz's neighbors can visit.
Floor 100 - The Bedroom
Address:
Lily Hills Wing 2 Room #27, 29th Ward, The Lavender Beds - Mateus
Gaz's bedroom is at the very top of the tower on the 100th floor. It is surrounded by windows so that he can look out over the forest in every direction.
Floor 87 - The Bath
Address:
Lily Hills Wing 2 Room #35, 29th Ward, The Lavender Beds - Mateus
There is a very special bath that Gaz uses for his hair treatments and general hygiene. It is filled with sweet smelling concoctions and a number of floating mirrors that allow one to see their hair from every possible angle.
Address:
Lily Hills Wing 2 Room #38, 29th Ward, The Lavender Beds - Mateus
Floor 49 - The Kitchen
The tower's kitchen is not only where Gaz goes to eat, but the home of the golem Bruke. His face is the fireplace, and he regulates many systems throughout the tower, including the temperature. He can get grumpy, so Gaz does what he can to keep him happy so he doesn't freeze to death at night. His core is kept safely hidden away somewhere in the tower.
Floor 33 - The Observatory
Address:
Lily Hills Wing 2 Room #39, 29th Ward, The Lavender Beds - Mateus
The observatory floor is simply an unfurnished part of the tower that looks over the village. Gaz has set up a table and chairs to share drinks and chat with his visitors.
Floor 24 - The Library
Address:
Lily Hills Wing 2 Room #40, 29th Ward, The Lavender Beds - Mateus
In Gaz's personal library, a magical barrier appears should anyone take a book off the shelf. It allows visitors to read his collection, but none may take anything from it. It is usually peaceful and quiet, but every once in a while strange noises can be heard.
Floor 1 - Wizard's Whimsy
Address:
Lily Hills Wing 2 Room #41, 29th Ward, The Lavender Beds - Mateus
On the very first floor of the tower is Gaz's magic & curio shop, the Wizard's Whimsy. Here he sells a number of magical items to villagers and travelers, including ethers, potions, spellbooks, grimoires, staves, focus components, and more. The register is manned by the triplet arcane constructs Mad Bob, Sad Bob, & Bobby. They don't speak, but whenever an item is brought to the front the price will be shown on the till.
Basement - The Crysal Cave
Address:
Lily Hills Wing 2 Room #42, 29th Ward, The Lavender Beds - Mateus
Beneath the tower is a cave filled with crystals. It is a place dense with aether. Gaz claims that the water makes its way from Silvertear Lake, leaving the water enriched with aether. Whether or not that actually means anything is unknown, but there is a nice swing installed for meditative visits.

Below are just a few tidbits about me, the player, and my playstyle. If you ever have any questions or would like to reach out for some potential roleplay, please feel free to contact me through Discord or in-game.
✒ I'm 34 years old and don't really use social media, so for all intents and purposes I am a grandpa.✒ I don't play with anyone younger than 21 years old. I work with teenagers in real life, and they're great, but when I'm at home I want to interact with adults and use naughty words.✒ I've been playing and roleplaying in FFXIV since 2.0 beta. I prefer roleplay that is fairly close to lore, which I feel includes a lot since we've received so much lore over the years. Mainly I prefer settings where everyone is playing by the same rules and there's no conflict of logic.✒ I am currently finishing my degree to become a high school English teacher.✒ I am a huge English geek who loves stories and books, especially fantasy of any flavor. I look to stories to help me understand and live the human experience, and look for inspiration to become a better person, author, and teacher wherever I can find it.✒ I'm too old and weary for drama. If there are any major issues with roleplay, IC bleeding into OOC or vice versa, or with general OOC interaction, I will do my best to communicate but reserve the right to block and move on with my life. Life's too short to try and fix problems with internet strangers.

"The Enchanted Forest"
Shattered memories and forgotten purpose
"The Tower in the Woods"
"It's hopeless."They had made it out of the highlands, but morale was understandably low. The small Coerthan hamlet they were from had been utterly destroyed once people had started turning into monsters. Those there now were all that were left. A few fires kept them warm enough while they waited out the dark in the forest they'd entered. One young man kept to himself, saying it over and over. "It's hopeless." It was how they all felt, but saying it out loud felt like too much. Any hope of escaping their fate suddenly vanished the moment the muttering young man suddenly became a monster before their eyes.Mere moments after he turned, the ground shook. It sparked more panic until suddenly through the trees came a number of lumbering golems that attacked the monster. The battle was short, the golems overwhelming the once normal man with force and keeping the others safe. As quickly as the golems had appeared, they were gone."Hello there. Is everyone alright?"Hanging upside down from a nearby branch was a smiling Midlander man. "I hope my friends didn't frighten you. They keep this place safe, you see." No one seemed to know what to say to this strange man. An elderly Elezen man took a step forward, asking carefully. "Then is this place safe?" Gazardiel looked around at the worn and weary faces of his visitors. His expression became more serious as he nodded to the man. "Aye. But come with me a ways, no reason to sleep out in the cold."The group gathered their things and followed the man through the trees until they could see a tall tower before them. It was the first glimmer of hope they'd seen since the world had started to fall apart. Before long they were all inside and settled into their new temporary accommodations. A group of children started following Gazardiel around after he had showed them a few magic tricks. They were laughing as he played with them and showed them all sorts of strange and wonderful things. The sound of their laughter soothed the souls of the adults. Maybe there was life after this, after all.~ ~ ~With the help of those within his care, Gazardiel began venturing out of the forest to seek more who may have been in need of shelter. Day after day he would disappear then reappear with more people who needed a roof and a warm meal. Brought together by trying times, a community began to form. Eventually they asked the master of the tower if they could stay in his forest. Without any reason to say no, they were given permission and they went to work building homes and farms. Almost overnight, the village of Havenwood was born.Gazardiel had thought that they would want to govern themselves and intended to merely continue his life in the tower. In reality, they craved leadership and guidance. Disagreements and misunderstandings broke out left and right as a village with no direction continued to grow. After playing the mediator for some time, Gazardiel became Keeper of Havenwood. This was his forest, and the village was built around his tower. None objected to his position of authority. And so Havenwood grew under the watchful eye of its Keeper. Word started to slowly spread across the star about a village that accepted all those who needed a home and were willing to work hard.Things weren't always easy, but the villagers worked diligently to build their new home. They had hope for a brighter future, one safe from the chaos of the world beyond the forest's edge. The tale of Havenwood would inevitably face its twists and turns, but in the beginning it was born of hope. It was there to show that life has more to offer than despair and loss. It all began with the tower in the woods, but would soon blossom into something so much more.
"The Enchanted Forest"
It happened again, like it always did.Gaz found himself somewhere out in the forest with no memory of what he'd been doing. It'd be more alarming if he didn't feel so content every time. It was like whatever he was doing was something that filled him with a joy that couldn't be replicated anywhere else in his life. It was a fleeting feeling that soon left him. All he could do now was return to the life he actually remembered. Today, however, he lingered to try once again to piece things together. He sat down and closed his eyes, thinking as best he could about his earliest memories of coming to this place. It had been some years now. The forest wasn't a forest back then. Like much of Mor Dhona, its landscape had been scarred by a number of world altering events. He remembered picking this place because... it was close enough to Silvertear Lake but remote enough that no one ever came to this region. Why did it need to be near Silvertear? He couldn't remember. It was important, though, so they chose this spot. They chose it. He was with someone. Who was it? Why couldn't he remember? It was with their help that they revitalized the land and grew the forest. That had been beyond his capabilities before. So who was it that could do something that significant? He could remember bits and pieces of a conversation he had to name the new forest. His own voice was in his head, but he couldn't hear the other voice."Oh, you have an idea, do you? Okay, let's hear it. I bet it's great.""~ ~~~~~ ... ~~ ~~~~~~ ~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~! ~~~~~ ~~!""Silvermist Forest... Y'know what? That is a great name! Let's go with that. We live in Silvermist Forest now.""~~~! ~ ~~~~ ~~~, ~~~~!"He remembered being happy to hear that, whatever it was. What was the forest for? Why had they gone to such lengths to create this place? The tower? The countless magical defenses he'd been working on for years? Where was the person he had been with? None of it made any sense. Even still, he was bound to this place. Something told him his work wasn't done. Even without knowing what had happened or why, he knew he couldn't just walk away.He opened his eyes again. The answers still eluded him, but at least he knew that whatever was happening was important. Important enough to continue on, even if his memories continued to fade. The sound of the village reached him as people began to wake up and start their days. He smiled to himself. With a hop to his step, he walked back towards the village to start his own day. There were all sorts living in the forest with him now. Maybe things would change. Maybe with their help, he'd find the answers he was looking for.
"I think... it should be named Silvermist Forest! After me!""Yay! I love you, Paba!"
